Myths About Travel Advisors and the Cruise Planners Difference

The truth is, for personal (or really any non-corporate travel), there should never be a cost. We work solely on commission, and, therefore, we work for you your praise and referral. It is our job to fulfill your travel goals and the best way we can do that is by checking off your boxes, getting you the deals you desire, and finding you the best value. Now, that doesn't also mean that it's the cheapest price. I say that because, if you were to get a good deal on a cruise that includes perks, maybe a pre-night stay, and transfers to and from the port (where you won't have to pay additional parking fees, and it only cost a little bit more than the price of the cruise alone, wouldn't it be worth it? In the end, you get the best deal and we earned you trust, business, and a commission.
Some have asked, "why use a travel agent when I can do it on my own?". I used the say the same thing myself until I got into this business. Now, I even use "myself" as my agent. There are certain industry "perks" that we get when become advisors that the consumers don't receive, however, we can pass those perks on to you! What's more, what we cover in about 15-20 minutes on the phone going over what you want and don't want. can take me hours to research. This takes the burden off of you. While we develop our relationships with our suppliers and discover the extra incentives from our Home Office team, that time can be cut in half. Nevertheless, we never respond with less than three options but, at the same time, we try not to overwhelm you with options. Again, it is our job to find you what you want at the price point you want it, so you really shouldn't need more than three options.
..."but I can find it cheaper online".... That may be the case, but that's just it. It would be cheaper not necessarily less expensive. Again, it is about VALUE, not always PRICE. Our Home Office team works tirelessly to find the best suppliers that offer the best service at the best price. Every demographic is different. so that is taken in consideration as well, which is why sometimes we may suggest some higher ticket items. Most of the time, that plussed up price doubles up that plussed up experience.
Lastly, the biggest myth is all travel agents are the same. First and foremost, we at Cruise Planners are not travel agents. That fell by the wayside when our company developed into the modern marvel it has become. We are travel advisors. We advise our clients by passing along the knowledge we gain whether it's the supplier they want to use or the destination they want to visit.
